YouTube’s Concept

My YouTube channel, I take you on an enchanting journey through various locations, each with its own story and charm. As a fervent historian and an enthusiast of the vibrant tapestry that every place presents, my videos are more than mere explorations—they are a deep dive into the essence and heritage of the places I visit. From the well-trodden paths of famous landmarks to the secluded nooks that only locals know, my passion for history and culture shines through in every narrative. My aim is not just to show you these places but to immerse you in their story, making you feel as if you’re discovering them with me. Whether you’re a history buff or simply in love with discovering new places, join me in uncovering the hidden gems and rich cultural narratives that lie waiting to be told.

STORY

In the mid-1530s in what was then, Owari Province, a boy called Kotake was born to a peasant family. Diminutive in stature and mocked for his monkey-like appearance, his prospects in life were not considered to be high.
The Japan he was born into was riven by civil war – the period known as “Sengoku Jidai”. With the collapse of central-power due to the weakening of the Ashikaga Shogunate, rival warlords battled each other for land, and supremacy.
Out of this period of chaos and carnage, three men would emerge whose destiny it was to end it. Two of them were born into samurai families, but one was not – the peasant boy, Kotake. He would go on to reach the pinnacle of power, from the humblest of beginnings.
Yet occasionally his dreams are punctuated by premonitions of a looming disaster, awaiting his master.
This is his story…

STORY

It seems fitting I start this book in the northern part of Honshu. I’ve only been to this castle once, back in 2006. Today all that remains of the castle is some of its walls, and reconstructed outer buildings. It was originally the headquarters of the Date clan throughout the Edo period.

The most famous protagonist of the Date clan (pronounced Da-te) was Masamune Date, a warrior famous for having only one eye. He was highly skilled in war, and personally equipped every soldier in his army with bulletproof armour, being keenly aware of the entry of firearms onto the battlefield
